Questions about WhatsApp links
Does the number need WhatsApp?
Yes. The number has to be registered with WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. A landline works if you've set up WhatsApp Business on it.
Do people need to save my number first?
No. The link opens a chat with you straight away, without anyone adding you as a contact.
Can I change the message later?
The message is part of the link, so a new message means a new link. People can always edit it before they send it.
Does it work on a computer?
Yes. On a computer the link opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, and asks people to link their phone if they haven't.
Why doesn't the button use the WhatsApp logo?
WhatsApp's logo is a trademark with its own rules, so the button uses a plain chat icon. Its default colours pass accessibility contrast; white text on WhatsApp green doesn't.
Is my number sent anywhere?
