Questions about the health check
Is the health check free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, and we don't keep the address you check or the results, so nobody will chase you about them.
What does the score mean?
It's how many of our checks your page passes, with the important ones (like the padlock and being set up for phones) counting for more. Google's speed test has its own scores, out of 100, the same as on PageSpeed Insights.
Why is my speed score different each time?
Google's test loads your page fresh each time, and small differences in your server, the network and adverts or other third-party content change the result. A few points either way is normal; look at the trend and the suggestions.
My speed score is low. Is my website broken?
Not necessarily. The test uses a mid-range phone on a slowish connection on purpose, so most sites score lower than people expect. The suggestions show what would make the most difference.
Can it check every page on my site?
It checks one page at a time, so try your homepage and your most important service page. For every page at once, our SEO audits go through your whole site.
Why couldn't it load my website?
Some security settings stop automated visits like ours, and some sites are down or too slow to answer within 15 seconds. If your site works in a browser but not here, its firewall is probably blocking checkers.
