What's in the pack

Just the files today's browsers and phones use, rather than the dozens some generators make.

favicon.ico
The classic favicon, with 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions inside. Every browser looks for it, and it's what Google shows next to your results.
icon.svg
Included when you start from an SVG logo: one file that's sharp at every size in modern browsers.
apple-touch-icon.png
180 pixels, for iPhones and iPads when someone adds your site to their home screen. Always has a background, because iOS fills see-through parts with black.
icon-192.png and icon-512.png
For Android phones and installable web apps, listed in the manifest.
site.webmanifest
Tells phones your site's name, its icons and its colour.

Questions about favicons

What is a favicon?

The small icon for your website that browsers show in tabs, bookmarks and history, and that Google shows next to your pages in its results. Without one, people see a blank or generic icon.

Does a favicon help with SEO?

Not directly with rankings, but Google shows it beside your result, so a clear one makes your listing look more trustworthy and easier to spot.

Why doesn't my new favicon show?

Browsers keep favicons for a long time. Open the site in a private window, or clear the browser's cache, to see the new one. Google updates the one in its results the next time it crawls your homepage, which can take a few weeks.

What makes a good favicon?

Something very simple: one bold shape or one or two letters, in strong colours. Detailed logos turn into a smudge at 16 pixels, so many businesses use just the first letter or a symbol from the logo.

Is my logo uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is made in your browser, and your image never leaves your computer.
